From the jump I want to be clear that I am in fact a very big Trump supporter. I am not here to bash the Clinton supporters but rather explain and express my thoughts before, during, and after the 2016 presidential election took place.
BEFORE:
Before the election date there was many debates and arguments against our presidential candidates. Both Trump and Clinton continuously bashed each other on and off the playing field. I watched as commercials twisted and manipulated the words of the candidates making them seem much worse then they truly are. I felt that during the election the main focus was to make the people aware of the negatives of both candidates before the positives. I want to touch up on the views of both Trump and Clinton and express my views along with it. I chose to talk about topics that I felt strongly about.
Personally, I felt that I was being judged by my own personal views and my opinions about the election. I was mocked for the trump pins I wore and the trump sticker on my car. I wasn't making threats against the other candidates, I was simply making my opinions known and stood up for what I believed in as a young 18 year old white female college student. I was constantly be challenged by people of all ages on why I would vote for such a heartless, immature, and crude man. I had people trying to convince me that my opinions were wrong and that because I am a female I should not be voting for a man who makes awful comments against women.

IMMIGRATION:
HEALTHCARE:
ABORTION:
GUN RIGHTS:
- TRUMP: Build a wall across the U.S.-Mexico Border. Increase enforcement of immigration laws. Require that employers seek to hire Americans first; certify that immigrants applying to come to the U.S. can afford their own housing, health care and other costs. "No more catch-and-release" — Trump wants immigrants caught illegally crossing the border to be detained and deported, not released to the public.
- CLINTON: Immigration legislation. Encourage immigrants to become naturalized citizens. Change detention policies. Undocumented immigrants who qualify for DACA and DAPA are able to obtain work permits. Supervised release instead of detention for families who don’t pose flight or public safety threats. Close private immigration detention centers.
- PERSONAL OPINION: I can see where illegal immigration can be a safety concern. I agree with Trump about hiring Americans before immigrants for the fact that they are coming to the United States and taking jobs that us Americans need. I also agree with Trump when certifying that the immigrants can in fact afford to live in the United States and not have to rely on the government to fund everything for them.
HEALTHCARE:
- TRUMP: Against and wants to rid of ObamaCare and replace it with universal healthcare. Trump believes in increasing competition and lowering costs by allowing Americans to purchase and consume imported drugs. Trump added that enforcing immigration laws could reduce healthcare costs.
- CLINTON: Expansion of ObamaCare. Clinton wants to keep and improve the Affordable Care Act. Supports allowing Americans to enroll in Medicare when they turn 55, increasing funding for autism and Alzheimer's disease research and treatment, and legalizing prescription drug imports from Canada.
- PERSONAL OPINION: Both candidates have similar health plans other than their views on ObamaCare. I myself was never a huge fan of ObamaCare. Obamacare imposes new taxes on drug companies and medical device makers, and new regulations that will make health care more costly. I always did find it a bit sucky that I had to pay quite a bit of money for drug that I needed to survive. I always thought to myself that I didn't have the money to cover the costs I would be dead. With ObamaCare people were becoming insured and covered at lower prices then people with insurance. To me I find this to be unfair.
ABORTION:
- TRUMP: ProLife. Trump says he believes abortion should be illegal except in cases of rape, incest, or when a pregnant woman’s life is endangered. He supports a ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy and cutting off federal funding to Planned Parenthood unless clinics stop performing abortions. He also believes that a punishment should be enforced towards those that perform illegal abortions.
- CLINTON: ProChoice. Believes that a woman has the choice to abort her unborn child at any point during the pregnancy. Clinton supports Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right to abortion. She opposes a proposed ban on abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
- PERSONAL OPINION: Growing up I was never pressured into choosing ProLife vs. ProChoice. I however am for the most part ProLife. However, I feel the only exception is Rape. If a woman is raped and chooses to abort due to her own mental health I find this to be reasonable as long as the abortion is performed early on during the pregnancy. Other then this I do not support abortion at all. Aborting an unborn child is just as bad as killing a born child.
GUN RIGHTS:
- TRUMP: Trump supports the 2nd amendment rights he also believes in allowing military personnel to carry weapons on military bases & recruitment centers. Trump believes that law-abiding people should be allowed to own the firearm of their choice. Trump’s gun platform also calls for expanding treatment programs for those with mental health concerns.
- CLINTON: Supports a stricter assault weapons ban, and background checks being required for a greater number of gun sales. Wants more legislation for gun safety. Clinton says the laws should be adjusted to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and she supports a ban on what she calls military-style weapons.
- PERSONAL OPINION: Personally, I am totally for having gun rights. I myself like the right to carry a weapon for safety purposes. I feel that everyone has the right to carry if they are law-abiding citizens. Restricting the use of guns and making it harder to obtain won't fix any issues that we have. Being able to carry reduces crime rates. Also, I feel that the military has every right of carrying weapons for the fact that they were all trained on how to use the weapons properly and they don't have criminal backgrounds. I think that the expansion of mental health programs is a great idea for the fact that many people with these type of issues go untreated and can pose a threat to themselves and others.
DURING:
Watching the election results pour in was definitely a nail-biting situation for both Trump and Hillary Supporters. I watched as the Clinton supports hugged one another and cried hysterically as Trump was leading strongly with the electoral votes. Trump Supporters celebrated and showed their excitement at Trump Headquarters. I listened as the news reporters continuously bashed on Trump as they expressed their confusion as to why their predictions were way off.
At the beginning as the results came in I was a nervous wreck. I was scared that Hillary Clinton was predicted to steal the votes and become the new president of the United States of America. I was so against everything she believed in and I wasn't ready to have her come in, takeover, and start running things with that kind of power. Nearly having a mental breakdown myself I stayed up waiting impatiently for the final results of this election.

AFTER:
After our new president was named you would think that all the drama leading up to this night would all reside...WRONG!! In fact in my opinion I think everything just spiraled completely out of control. Riots formed and american flags were burned. Clinton supports are continuously attacking Trump supporters both verbally and physically. A petition was formed to have Trump removed from presidency and Hillary to be put into office. I had people flipping me off and cursing me out just for my beliefs and support for our new president. Now that the election ended Trump supporters are being attacked more then ever. We are being criticized and mocked on daily basis. Both Clinton and her supporters preached on end that Trump was a bad influence towards the children. However, now the roles are reversed. How could all of this rioting, petitioning, and burning of the flag be good for the children to witness? I personally do not feel that Trump put any harm against anyone at all but at this point those supporting Hillary and acting out in these ridiculous behaviors are putting a risk of harm against many. I don't think that many people actually realize how good of a man Donald Trump is. Yes, he is very straightforward with his comments but he earned the respect of many by being trustworthy and sticking to his beliefs. Donald Trump is trying to make america great again by going back to the ways things used to be. He wants everything to be equal and fair among everyone. No more Black lives matter. No more Blue lives matter. Instead, use a motto of ALL lives matter and stop putting the blame on discrimination and racial situations.
