I just like the majority of the class wants to bring up the issue of Censorship. The biggest question here is how far is too far? Where do we draw the line? How much detail is seen as enough to warn? I know that the explicit "E" was released on music and that movies were rated PG, PG-13, R, and M. When it comes to movies, you need ID to enter unless with a parent. Also, parents can set controls on netflix accounts and television's to ensure that their children are not accessing the explicit and graphic shows and movies. However, there's no stopping children from listening to explicit music. Just because there is an "E" next to a song doesn't mean that it stops people from listening. Besides, a child could easily find the Explicit version of a song on youtube, soundcloud, spotify, the itunes store, etc. The options are unlimited. Many parents are displeased by the music being produced and listened to today. I want to bring up a point here... Growing up I listened to songs like "Rape Me" by Nirvana now there's songs like "Or Nah" by Ty Dolla $ign. (Lyrics for both of these songs are attached) Both, are very raunchy and could easily cause people to cringe and turn it off after a couple words of the song beginning. Songs like this are still available for a child to listen. Should we do anything about this or leave it alone? I personally believe that we should just leave things the way they are because I don't find harm in children being a little curious. They eventually are going to ask and learn about these things. It's a parents choice whether they tell them or to tell their child to stop listening to these things. I don't think we should change things just because some parents are upset about this. There's other ways around it.
